When is help needed?
Whenever line, a hook, netting or rope is visible on the body, wing or leg. Also if the bird does not swim, holds a wing down, or sits on the bank without fleeing.
What you must never do
Do not chase the bird or drive it into the water — it exhausts itself and can drown. Do not cut the line blindly: the hook often stays inside.
